New School Year 2012-2013

Welcome back!!  It seems that everyone is back in the swing of things here at North Grove!

This year, I have a new game (and management plan) that I'm using in my classroom.  I have a game board up on my big white board called "Artopoly".  Each class has a chance to earn three letters ("ART") during art.  If all three letters are earned, they get to move three spaces on the game board.  If only two spaces are earned, they only move two spaces, etc.  My students get SO into it and will ALWAYS remind me if I forget to move their game piece at the end of art.  It's a great way for kids to remember to be on their best behaviors.  The best part is the end!! Once they reach the finish spot they earn a "Free Art Day" and each individual gets to choose what kind of art they do that day, as well as where they sit. :)  They LOVE that!
I have to credit one of my favorite art teacher blogs, theartofed.com for the "ART" letter idea!  It's such an easy way to encourage classes to stay on task and follow directions!

What management plans do you use in your classroom?
